Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about SheetForge - data, pricing, security, and integrations.
Product
Can I turn my Excel spreadsheet into a web app?
Yes. Upload a file and SheetForge builds a shareable, interactive app in seconds, with no coding. CSV files work on the Free plan. Excel files (.xlsx, .xls) and Google Sheets need Pro.
What file types does SheetForge support?
CSV on the Free plan. Excel (.xlsx, .xls) and Google Sheets on Pro. Paste a public Google Sheets link, or connect your Google account to use a private sheet. Files can be up to 10 MB.
What views does SheetForge create?
Dashboard (KPI cards), Table (sortable, filterable), Kanban (card-based), and Pivot (cross-tab analysis). Charts (bar, pie, line) are also generated automatically from numeric columns. All views are created from your data with no configuration needed.
Do I need to create an account to use SheetForge?
No. You can try the Free plan without an account: upload a CSV and get a shareable link. Sign up when you want to save and manage your apps or start Pro.
Can I customise the look of my app?
Yes. You can change the app title, choose from 8 colour themes (including dark ones), and choose which columns appear in each view. Pro adds custom branding, including removing the SheetForge branding from shared apps.
Does it work on mobile and tablets?
Yes. Every app generated by SheetForge is fully responsive and works across desktop, tablet, and mobile without any extra setup.
What colour themes are available?
SheetForge includes 8 built-in themes: Light, Dark, Midnight, Ocean, Sunset, Forest, Aurora and Rose.
Can I add charts to my app?
Charts are generated automatically for numeric columns. From the Views tab you can select bar, pie, or line chart types and choose which columns to plot. The Charts view is available on all plans.
What is the Kanban view?
The Kanban view groups your rows into columns based on a status or category column you choose. Useful for project tracking, sales pipelines, or task boards. Available on all plans, including Free.
Data
Is my data stored on SheetForge servers?
Only when you share or save an app. While you build, your file is processed in your browser. When you share or save, the rows you share are stored on our UK servers, encrypted at rest, so the link works. They are deleted when the app expires, when you delete it, or when you delete your account. Free shared apps stay up for 30 days; Pro apps stay up while you subscribe.
Will the app update automatically when my spreadsheet changes?
On Pro, apps built from a Google Sheet can refresh automatically every hour, every 6 hours or once a day. For uploaded files, upload the new version to update the app. Write-back (beta), where edits made in the app are sent back to your sheet, is also on Pro.
What is the maximum number of rows supported?
The Free plan supports up to 500 rows. Pro has unlimited rows, within the 10 MB file size limit.
Can I connect multiple sheets or tabs?
Yes. If an Excel file has several sheets, you can include more than one in your app. For Google Sheets, connect your Google account to pick the tabs you want. Each sheet appears as its own section in the app.
Can users edit data directly in the app?
On the Free plan, apps are read-only. On Pro you can edit and add records through your private edit link in My apps, and write-back (beta) saves the changes to your Google Sheet. Edits are not saved back to Excel files: use Export to download the data.
Can I filter and sort the data in my app?
Yes. Table view supports column sorting (click any header) and a filter panel that lets viewers filter by any column. The app owner can set a default filter when sharing. Kanban and Pivot views have their own grouping controls.
How do I connect a Google Sheet?
Google Sheets is a Pro feature. For a public sheet, set sharing to Anyone with the link > Viewer, then paste the link into SheetForge. For a private sheet, connect your Google account in the builder. SheetForge then asks Google for read and write access to your Google Sheets and read-only access to Google Drive, which it needs for private sheets and write-back.
Pricing
How much does SheetForge cost?
Free: £0 - CSV upload, up to 500 rows, read-only views, shareable links and CSV export. Pro: £12 a month plus VAT - everything in Free, plus Excel and Google Sheets, unlimited rows, auto-refresh from Google Sheets, write-back (beta), custom branding, and password protection and IP allowlist. Pro is billed monthly; there are no annual plans. A Team plan is coming soon but is not on sale.
Is there a free trial of the paid plans?
The Free plan is free forever with no time limit. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial: you add a card when you start, nothing is charged during the trial, and if you cancel from Billing before it ends you pay nothing. We email you a week before the trial ends.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel at any time from Billing in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep Pro until then. There are no cancellation fees.
Do you offer discounts for non-profits or education?
We do not have a discount scheme at the moment. If you are a charity or a school, email hello@sheetforge.ai and tell us what you need.
What happens when I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Upgrading from Free to Pro starts your 14-day free trial, or your paid plan straight away if you have already had a trial. If you cancel Pro, you keep it until the end of the paid period. After that your account returns to Free: Pro features stop working and your shared apps follow the Free plan rules, staying up for 30 days.
Can I get a refund?
We do not refund part-used months, except where the law requires it. If you are a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of the contract starting - and because Pro starts with a 14-day free trial, cancelling within the trial costs nothing. See our terms for details, or email hello@sheetforge.ai.
What payment methods are accepted?
Debit and credit cards, through Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Prices exclude VAT; VAT is added at checkout based on your location, and business customers can enter a VAT number. Invoices are issued automatically each month, and charges show on your statement as APPS365 SHEETFORGE.
Security
How is my data secured?
We follow security good practice: HTTPS everywhere, shared app data encrypted at rest, encrypted secrets (such as Google tokens), two-factor authentication available on every account, and daily backups. Our servers are in the UK.
Who can see my app?
Anyone who has the share link. On Pro you can add a password or an IP allowlist. We do not list shared apps anywhere public - people need the link.
Can I restrict access to specific people?
Not by name or email address yet. On Pro you can protect an app with a password, or only let it open from IP addresses you choose, such as your office network.
Where is data hosted?
On servers in the UK. Stripe (payments) and Google (if you use Google Sheets or Google sign-in) may process some data in the US, protected by UK data transfer safeguards. See our privacy policy for details.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
When you delete your account, your account details, your shared apps and the data in them are deleted. We keep billing records for as long as UK tax law requires.
Is two-factor authentication (2FA) available?
Yes. 2FA via an authenticator app (TOTP) is available for all accounts and is mandatory for admin users. You can turn it on from your profile page.
Can I export my data for GDPR compliance?
Yes. Every app has a CSV export. For a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, email hello@sheetforge.ai. You can also delete your account yourself from your profile page.
Teams
Is there a Team plan?
A Team plan is coming soon but is not on sale yet. Today, Pro is for one account, and you can share your apps with anyone using a link.
Integrations
Does SheetForge integrate with Zapier or Make?
There is no native Zapier or Make app. You can add a webhook URL when you share an app: when someone adds a record through the app, SheetForge sends it as JSON to that URL, which can be a Zapier or Make webhook trigger.
Can I embed my app in another website?
Yes. After you share an app, the share window gives you an iframe embed code. Paste it into any website that allows iframes, such as WordPress, Webflow or Squarespace.
Can I export my data from SheetForge?
Yes. Every app has a CSV export button in the Table view toolbar. You can export the current filtered/sorted view or the full unfiltered dataset. Exports include all columns including any computed columns.
Does SheetForge have an API?
There is no public API at the moment. Webhooks can send new records added in an app to another system.
Can SheetForge connect to a live database (SQL, Postgres)?
Not at the moment. SheetForge works with CSV, Excel and Google Sheets.
Can I track app analytics with Google Analytics?
Yes. Add your GA4 Measurement ID when you share an app and SheetForge adds your Google Analytics tag to that app. What GA4 records depends on how your GA4 property is set up, and the app's visitors will get Google Analytics cookies under your control.
Does SheetForge support webhooks?
Yes. When you share an app you can add an HTTPS webhook URL. When someone adds a record through the app, SheetForge sends the new row as JSON to that URL. Adding records needs Pro.
